Section 4
EXPRESSSCOPE® Monitor Interface
This section describes the EXPRESSSCOPE® Monitor interface. EXPRESSSCOPE®
Monitor functionality is a subset of management firmware functionality, offering menus
with limited options to configure, control, and monitor the Express5800/A1160 system
components. Different menus apply to partitions, cells, and the system as a whole.
Refer to 2.2 EXPRESSSCOPE® Monitor Interface
for uses of and instructions on
accessing the EXPRESSSCOPE® Monitor interface.
4.1. Components
To operate the EXPRESSSCOPE® Monitor interface components, you may need to
detach the bezel from the front of the Cell (refer to 11.5 Front Bezel).
Figure 4-1
shows the EXPRESSSCOPE® Monitor interface components that appear on
the front of each cell, as follows:
• An LCD that displays information about the system, partition, and cell; and
information that is accessed using a menu system (refer to 4.1.1 Main Screen
Display and 4.1.5 EXPRESSSCOPE® Monitor LCD Back Light)
• Operational buttons for navigating in the menu system, for applying and removing
DC power to the cell, and for identifying the cell chassis (refer to 4.1.2 Operational
Buttons)
• Two LEDs that indicate the cell operating status and communication faults with
management firmware on the Service Processor (refer to 4.1.4 EXPRESSSCOPE®
Monitor LEDs)
Notes:
• Applying DC power to a cell applies power to all cells in the partition containing the
cell that are not already powered on and might boot the partition, depending on
settings.
• Using the EXPRESSSCOPE® Monitor power button is usually for maintenance
purposes only; the remote console interface is the preferred method for applying
and removing DC power.
